What you see is a space center in JukkasjΓ€rvi near Kiruna, Sweden, 200 kilometers from the Arctic Circle, it is the first European center from which an attempt is made to launch a satellite. This has led to new investments and the construction of this hangar is recent. Mattias Abrahamsson, Swedish Space Corporation: “It’s an area of 5,200 square meters, no one lives there and we can launch rockets that don’t create problems when they fall.”

Krister SjΓΆlander, program manager for Payloads & Flight Systems: “It’s more or less like a lego, we take the outcome of each experiment and then put them all together. What’s coming is an experiment, but we’re planning experiments on board with fluids and scientific materials.” The European centre in JukkasjΓ€rvi is one of the best in Europe, but it is not the only one, there are others, in the Azorras, Norway, Spain and the United Kingdom.
