Airline Air France-KLM booked its best ever quarter this summer, with more demand for tickets leading to higher profits. Group revenue reached €8.7 billion, up 7% compared to last year.

The airline earned €1.3 billion between July and the end of September, a rise of almost one third on the same period last year. Higher ticket prices offset the increase in fuel and staffing costs, the company said in a statement.

Capacity is now at 94% of what it was in 2019, before the coronavirus crisis hit and the airline expects the remaining impact of the pandemic and travel bans to have disappeared by next year.

KLM, the Dutch arm of the company, booked net profit of €539 million, with Air France accounting for €806 million.
