Food inflation in the Netherlands remains high, with prices for groceries some 7.3% up on November 2022, national statistics agency CBS said in a flash forecast on Thursday.

Nevertheless, food inflation is slowing, the figures show. In October food prices were 8.7% higher, and in September 10%.

Taking energy prices into account, inflation is 1.6%, the CBS said. This is up on October, when the consumer price index showed prices fell by -0.4% in the last year.

Price movements for energy have a major impact on the inflation figures, and excluding energy prices would put the November inflation rate at 4.1%. The CBS will publish updated figures on December 12.
