The meteorological office KNMI has issued its third storm warning of the year after winds of up to 100 km/h battered coastal regions overnight.

yellow weather warning is in place for the northern half of the country until 3pm on Wednesday, with gusts of up to 85 kph forecast on the mainland and up to 95 kph on the Wadden islands.

Storm Jocelyn, the 10th named storm of the winter and the third since New Year’s Day, blew in from the west on Tuesday evening, when force 9 winds were recorded in the coastal towns of Vlissingen and IJmuiden.

So far the damage has been less severe than during Storm Isha at the weekend. Two cars were hit by a falling tree in Oegstgeest, while in Leiden several vehicles were struck by polystyrene blocks that were torn off a roof.

Amsterdam was hit by a second power cut in two days as 57,000 connections were cut off at around 9.30pm, but network operator Liander could not say if it was related to the storm.

Cult film-maker Dick Maas was among those who posted scenes of the city in darkness on social media.

  1. It was great seeing how much work you put into it. The picture is nice, and your writing style is stylish, but you seem to be worrying that you should be presenting the next article. I’ll almost certainly be back to read more of your work if you take care of this hike.
