The KNMI weather bureau issued a code yellow warning for western parts of the Netherlands on Monday afternoon, saying strong winds are likely to batter coastal regions later in the day.
The warning applies to Zeeland, Zuid-Holland, Noord-Holland and the west of Nord-Brabant. The strong northwesterly winds β up to 100 kph is forecast on the southern coast β will be accompanied by heavy rain and possibly thunder, the KNMI said.
The temperature will also drop in affected areas to no higher than 13Β°.
Although the strong winds will drop by Tuesday, there are likely to be showers all week and the likelihood of sunshine is put at just 20%. Temperatures will also hover in the high teens.
The KNMIβs long-range forecast is for more changeable weather, with occasional sunny spells and temperatures below average for the time of year.
