A 45-year-old man from Barendrecht has been arrested in connection with a series of suspected sex attacks on children.
The man surrendered to police on September 10 after criminal complaints were made against him. He is currently being detained in custody.
The prosecution service would not give details of the ongoing investigation, but confirmed that it concerned multiple alleged victims of varying ages.
Police sources quoted in the Telegraaf described the case as a βvery serious and wide-rangingβ. The suspect is alleged to have targeted very young children through contacts and clubs in his neighbourhood.
The mayor of Barendrecht, Govert Veldhuizen, is also reported to have been briefed about the case.
